AHG Patriotism in Action

It was great to be part of this National patriot American Heritage Girls event
AHG honored those who made our freedom possible @ Arlington National Cemetery.
AHG celebrated the 4th of July following
our 2014 National Leadership Conference, in Centerville VA.
Stars and Stripes Award recipient Marta Tverberg laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, June 29 at Arlington National Cemetery.

Immediately following the wreath-laying ceremony, the first AHG National Choir performed patriotic songs at the Arlington National Cemetery Memorial Amphitheater. More than 50 girls from across the nation including Alaska and Hawaii participated in the historic event.

TLUSA June/July

TLUSA MD0518, Joppa MD @ Expedition: Ohio
2014 Trail Life Camporee at Hocking Hills Canoe Livery, near Logan Ohio
"Our outdoors adventure troop goes camping once a month..."

Steve Padgett (Troopmaster) reported 9 troops, 4 states, 206 Trailmen and untold tons of fun and fellowship. Everyone left completely pumped about Trail Life USA. It was worth every minute of the 8 hour drive for MD 518. And it was a perfect trip, everyone slept on the way home.

Kent Marks (a participant from another Troop) said -- The ExpOhio event was an awesome time for everyone. Zip lines, canopy tours, canoeing, fishing, hiking, rock climbing, rappelling and a local Shawnee Native American Indian gave a talk to the Trail men. God even smiled on us after a wet introduction! Nat' Director of Field Ops Rob Green, Board Chair John Stemberger, and CEO Mark Hancock made a Skype visit at the Saturday evening campfire and managed to pump the camper up even more.

Welcome our new Central Maryland
Ministry Expansion Lead (MEL)
Sheila Bisson
Sheila began her involvement with AHG in the Spring of 2010 when she helped start a troop in Laurel, MD, MD1208. She has held a number of different positions within the troop including Pioneer/Patriot leader and Troop Coordinator. She has two children, both high school students, and enjoys spending her summers going to AHG and youth group summer camps.  She is very excited to help others bring their dream of starting an AHG troop into a reality and share the AHG ministry with as many girls as possible.  She has seen the profound effect that AHG can have in the lives of young women.  She has a passion for sharing the AHG mission with others and teaching girls to serve others as Jesus served.
Professionally, Sheila works part time as a nurse, a ministry she also loves.  She is active in her local church St. Mary of the Mills where her daughter’s AHG troop is chartered.  In her spare time, she loves to go camping, go rock climbing, and read a good book in a hammock.
